The Logistics of Luxury Beauty

MoGlow has never settled for the status quo. We set out to revolutionize the standards of beauty, prove that your routine can be indulgent and efficient, and redefine the intersection of luxury and wellness.
When MoGlow launched earlier this year, we applied that same mindset to the supply chain that brings our quality makeup mirrors into your home. Global logistics are often dominated by a “how it’s always been done” mindset. Like we said—not our style. To reduce our carbon footprint and costs from the warehouse to your vanity, we had to solve a geographical puzzle.
Shortening the delivery distance
Our initial strategy followed a standard Gulf Coast route by ocean freight: we’d sail from China, cut through the Panama Canal, drop anchor in Houston, and take a short truck ride to our warehouse in Dallas. Running our logistics through Dallas seemed efficient and geographically central on paper.
But as we crunched the numbers, we saw that traveling from Texas to high-density cities like New York or Boston meant navigating expensive, long-distance delivery zones. For a quality mirror of MoGlow’s size and weight, extra miles could mean risking delays and unnecessary environmental strain. We chose to pivot to Ohio—only a one-day drive from the high-density centers of the Northeast.

Lightening the environmental load
Instead of sailing around the continent through the Panama Canal, MoGlow arrives in Los Angeles and heads straight out via train on Intermodal Rail to the Midwest. By reducing the final distance from the warehouse to your front door, we significantly reduce the transit distance for the majority of our orders.
Freight rail is also approximately three to four times more fuel-efficient than trucks. Using rail for the long haul minimizes the truck delivery distance, lowering the carbon footprint of your order. It also lowers MoGlow’s shipping costs—which means your order ships free, since MoGlow pays the shipping right to your door anywhere in the contiguous U.S.
Women leading the way
To make it all happen, we had to find partners who shared our relentless precision. The search led us to Alaina, another female entrepreneur who mirrors the visionary spirit of our founder, Mozh.
In the supply chain workforce, only about 15% of executive-level roles are held by women. Alaina is the driving force at Moby Dick 3PL and a force to be reckoned with—with her on our team, we were able to refine a complex system and ensure every MoGlow mirror arrives at your doorstep with poise and protection.

Our supply chain strategy is a reflection of MoGlow’s mission: bringing luxury and elegant engineering together to redefine your reflection. Our exceptional team and trusted partners are challenging outdated standards and navigating the details behind the scenes—so the only thing you have to think about is which room your MoGlow will transform first.
