Our Founder's Take on Rethinking Your 
Beauty Rituals

Whether we’re getting ready for the day or unwinding for the evening, the space where we apply makeup, groom, or use our skincare can almost feel like a portal to a new self. Bathrooms can be beautiful, vanity tables can make things feel luxurious, but for the most part… We’re doing it all in a rush and leaning over a sink. Not exactly the elevated experience it should be.

At MoGlow, we believe that your beauty environment should be thoughtfully considered to support you—the type of person who is intentional about the products they use and how they want to show up in the world. Our founder Mozh has spent years refining hers not necessarily for perfection, but for alignment. 

Here’s what she’s learned about navigating her personal beauty rituals over time, and how you can apply it to elevate your own daily experiences:

1. Make Your Beauty Environment Intuitive

If you’re hunching over a sink or squinting due to poor lighting in your bathroom, you’re unknowingly straining your back and neck in the process. Mozh’s solution to combating this is simple but effective: your space should support your actual habits. Keep the essentials in intuitive locations and at eye level. For example, she stores duplicate face wash at the sink and in the shower for everyday use, and keeps her makeup spread out in a dedicated drawer where she can see every product and tool. 

She’s been so committed to her beauty setup that she once designed a closet with a beauty mirror mounted right inside the wall! (Her husband Glen couldn’t resist using it too). Over time, designing MoGlow was her ultimate solution to ensure she didn’t have to compromise her posture to apply makeup or skincare, and could do it all in the perfect light. “I want no distortion, stronger magnification, and good lighting, and the simple desire to not have to hunch over to see myself clearly.”

2. Proactive Is Powerful

Tech neck, tight shoulders, aching lower backs—they all tend to show up subtly in beauty routines, especially when you’re standing for long periods at awkward angles. (We’ve all been there: sometimes that winged eyeliner takes way more time than we’d like.) All of a sudden, you become that person that always has one strange ache or another, and Mozh is no stranger to this. 

“I think many of us can relate to the way stress and tension settle in those areas, exacerbated by our constant companions: desktops, laptops, and those ever-present mobile phones. Especially when a good portion of the day is spent at a desk or in meetings, it's almost inevitable. And then, as the years accumulate, the lower back sometimes decides to join the party.”

That’s exactly why she’s so passionate about proactive care—she loves daily strengthening exercises that incorporate weights as well as mindful practices like yoga. Her personal philosophy for managing natural aches and pains? “Investing almost two hours each day, dedicating one hour to strengthening exercises and another to cardio, whether it's a brisk walk or a run, not only helps me navigate the present day with less stress but also feels like an investment in a stronger, more comfortable tomorrow.”

3. Find Your Fearless (And Your Sultry)

We believe there are tons of little rituals that can set you up to feel your most confident and beautiful, but they don’t always have to come from a bottle of miracle serum. Mozh has a little secret she’s never told anyone before:

“If I'm feeling truly put together, I'll gently catch my reflection and whisper a confident ‘You look fantastic!’ followed by a smile and a playful little air kiss. It's silly, but it gives me a lasting boost.” 

Think about acknowledging your full self in the mirror more, or what helps you feel most put together. Is it a natural, glowing look? Great makeup? Awesome hair? A thoughtfully curated outfit and accessories? Whatever sparks joy, bring those confidence-boosting elements—and an affirmation—into your life whenever you need a pick-me-up before you leave the house. (And remember: “you look fantastic!”)

4. Indulge Yourself

At the end of each day, you’ve got so much on your mind taking up mental space. We advocate for one simple experience to let it all go: a long, enveloping warm shower. Mozh describes it as “washing away the day’s stresses, both physically and mentally.” Even better? Applying your favorite oils and lotions afterwards can help you feel truly calm and ready to unwind. How we start and end our days should feel equally restorative—make sure you’re treating your mind and body well every step of the way.

… If there’s one thing we want to share, it’s that beauty isn’t just about how you look, it’s about how you feel—and how you carry yourself forward into the world.
